Trains law students in social science methodologies and various approaches to policy making.
MA/JD Joint Program with Brooklyn Law School MA/JD in Political Science, with concentration in Urban Policy and Administration MA/JD joint program students may receive up to 9 of the 86 credits required for a JD degree by completing approved courses in the MA program. Conversely, a student may receive up to 9 of the 33 credits for the MA degree by completing approved law school courses.
Elective Courses at Brooklyn Law School:
Description:
A limited number of Urban Policy students, especially those interested in pursuing a law degree and who meet the criteria outlined below, may be eligible to take one or more classes at Brooklyn Law School. Upon successful completion, this Brooklyn Law elective course will count towards the Brooklyn College Urban Policy degree. Students would be graded by the Brooklyn Law faculty. The grade would appear on the student’s Brooklyn College transcript. Students would register for a designated Urban Policy Course (749?), attend the designated course at Brooklyn Law, and would be responsible for fulfilling all course requirements. Screening and registration for this elective would be facilitated by Brooklyn College’s Urban Policy Deputy/Administrator.
Eligibility:
- minimum of 12 credits in Urban Policy Program
- 3.2 or better GPA
- Recommendation from a faculty member
- Stated interested in the law reflected in a 1 page letter of request
Classes are subject to the availability and scheduling by Brooklyn Law school, and joint approval with Brooklyn Law administration.
